Commission Secretary (a)
Bern | 30% - 40%
Are you interested in local politics? Do you enjoy written communication and are skilled at it? Then you have the chance to manage our commission secretariats and gain an exciting insight into the administration of the Burgergemeinde Bern.
These are your tasks
- Independent management of commission secretariats including preparation and follow-up of commission meetings
- Organisation and coordination of meeting management as well as administration of matters in the GEVER system
- Preparation of meeting documents, resolutions, motions and other documents for commissions and department management
- Minute-taking as well as ensuring timely follow-up and documentation of commission matters
- Participation in smaller projects as well as taking on administrative and organisational special tasks
This is what distinguishes you
- Commercial basic training with professional experience in public administration, paralegal training, or (ongoing or completed) bachelor’s degree at a university or university of applied sciences, for example in law, business law, political science, history, public management or a comparable field
- Excellent editorial skills in German as well as the ability to quickly familiarise yourself with new issues
- Willingness to work flexibly, especially to attend commission meetings in the evening
- Good knowledge of the political system and public administration
- Organisational skills as well as an independent and precise way of working
- Enjoyment of working in a team and with different stakeholders

The Burgergemeinde Bern is a municipality according to the Bernese cantonal constitution. It works for the benefit of all people in the city and canton of Bern in the areas of social affairs, environment and nature, culture, living space city of Bern, sport, education and science. The Burgergemeinde Bern finances its activities with income from its own assets and does not levy taxes. It employs around 800 staff in 13 institutions and departments. The Burger administration is the service centre of the Burgergemeinde Bern. It includes the chancellery, finance, IT, communication, HR and the specialist unit for engagements in culture and society.
