Penzel Valier is an interdisciplinary architecture and engineering firm based in Zurich. We develop and realise complex building and infrastructure projects, combining architecture, technology and economic implementation.

For our competence circle Management + Processes we are looking for an experienced individual as

Construction Manager – Costs, Tendering & Construction Processes (80–100%)

You work at the interface between overall management, planning and execution, ensuring that costs, schedules and construction processes remain transparent and controllable throughout the various project phases.

Your role

You take on a central role in the economic and organisational control of our projects. You are not simply responsible for individual figures or tenders, but think about projects holistically and bring planning and execution together.

Your tasks include in particular:

• Determining and controlling construction costs over the planning and execution phases
• Building and further developing cost structures according to BKP / eBKP-H
• Cost monitoring of planning and identifying cost-optimised solutions
• Preparation and control of specifications and tender documents
• Development of tendering concepts, tendering strategies and award schedules
• Conducting and supporting tenders and awards
• Managing and further developing construction accounting as well as cost forecasts
• Identifying and economically managing claims and extra work
• Contributing to scheduling and coordination of dependencies
• Supporting construction processes, site organisation and site logistics
• Supporting overall management with variants, risks and project changes
• Close collaboration with site management, overall management as well as architecture and specialist planning

What you bring

You do not necessarily have to have held the title Construction Manager. What matters is that you know the world of costs, tendering and execution and can assess projects economically.

Ideally, you bring:

• Training in the construction sector, e.g. Construction Manager, Site Manager / Foreman with cost/tendering experience, Construction Economist / Cost Planner, Project Manager Construction Management, Quantity Surveyor, Tender Manager / Tendering Specialist or a comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in cost management, tendering, calculation or awarding
• Good knowledge of SIA phases 31–53
• Experience with construction processes and practical implementation of construction projects
• Confident handling of BKP and/or eBKP-H
• Experience in preparing and reviewing tender documents and specifications
• Good numerical affinity and a strong understanding of economic contexts
• Very good German language skills, spoken and written
• Structured, precise and reliable working style
• Enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration and bringing together different perspectives

Advantageous: Experience with Messerli, Excel, BIM-based workflows and MS Project.
