About the job
Head of School for the Adult Maturity School (a)
90% - 100% | Lucerne | Start date 01.08.2027
Education that supports: awakening curiosity, taking responsibility, daring new perspectives. The Adult Maturity School (MSE), which belongs to the Kantonsschule Reussbühl Lucerne (KSR), offers adults a second educational pathway to the Matura - and is seeking, due to a retirement, a person who will continue this vision with conviction, foresight and passion for adult education.
Your tasks
- As a member of the extended school management of the Kantonsschule Reussbühlyou shape the pedagogical, personnel and organisational development of the MSE with clear responsibility and an independent perspective.
- Under the overall management of the principal, you coordinate closely on central issues and school-wide requirements - such as financial planning - and contribute your perspectives to the further development of the KSR.
- With passion for adult education, you create a modern, innovative learning culture that sensibly combines self-study and classroom teaching and offers adult students real development opportunities.
- You actively network the MSE with the state adult grammar schools of Switzerland and maintain a reliable, open exchange internally and externally.
- You plan and organise admission procedures, Matura and supplementary examinations, ensure smooth processes and teach yourself on a reduced scale.
- With a caring, motivating attitude, you lead teachers, provide orientation in an environment with small workloads and special teaching times, and promote identification and commitment.
Your profile
- You have a completed university degree, teaching qualification for secondary level II and several years of teaching experience - ideally with adults as well as leadership experience from a comparable role.
- As an initiative-taking, responsible and resilient leader, you bring a reflective pedagogical attitude, respectful and appreciative interaction, as well as strong organisational and communication skills.
- You are on site during regular teaching hours - including every Saturday as well as Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings. Your presence is an important part of MSE leadership and creates genuine closeness to the people shaping everyday school life.
- You deal with diverse interests as well as spatial, personnel and financial framework conditions in a solution-oriented and responsible manner.
- Complex projects appeal to you, and you especially see the digitalisation of school and teaching as an opportunity to actively shape the MSE.

Your employer
The Adult Maturity School (MSE) is a second-chance education school supported by the Canton of Lucerne with about 200 students and 30 teachers. It is attached as an independent department to the Kantonsschule Reussbühl Lucerne (KSR) , which runs a long- and short-term grammar school with about 800 pupils in the emerging area of Lucerne North.
The MSE offers a part-time, three-and-a-half-year gymnasium course and a one-year bridging course for holders of a vocational/professional Matura and enables its graduates to access universities and colleges via Matura and supplementary examinations.
The MSE school system is based on an adult-appropriate combination of self-study and classroom teaching. Classes take place on Tuesday, Wednesday (afternoon and evening) and Saturday.
