Operations Engineer / Head of Technical Department 80 – 100% (m/f)

Your challenge:

As a member of the management team, you are responsible for ensuring the operational functionality of the plants and buildings. You plan and prioritise maintenance over several years and ensure that the facility fulfils its function in the long term, and can be operated safely and reliably. You will be supported by a motivated technical team and long-standing external partners.

You and your team take the lead in projects for asset preservation, optimisation and refurbishment, thereby securing success. In this role, you work closely with the operations manager, the managing director and the project manager for the expansion of the ARA Rhein.

Your responsibilities include:

• Leading the Technical Department with project managers, maintenance planners and workshops
• Independently ensuring the technical functionality of the plants and buildings on our extensive site
• Project management for optimisation and asset preservation projects
• Planning and budgeting the project portfolio
• Conceptual work on projects, evaluation of options and risks
• Creation and ongoing updating of technical documentation
• Independent coordination of orders and contracts with third-party companies

What you bring:

• Completed university or university of applied sciences degree (Master’s), preferably in mechanical engineering or process engineering
• Many years of practical experience in wastewater treatment or environmental technology or in the chemical industry in comparable roles
• Knowledge in the application of measurement and control technology and automation of industrial plants
• Willingness to familiarise yourself with new tasks and learn new things
• Very good German language skills spoken and written
• The resilience to maintain overview and calm even in challenging situations, focusing on what is essential
• Additionally, you are a team player, communicative, proactive, resilient, reliable and willing to delegate tasks and achieve goals together
• You participate in the management on-call duty and are also prepared to work outside normal hours when the situation requires it.
