How you can contribute

• Conduct scientific research on the adaptation of the Ukrainian armed forces since 2014
• Analyse Ukrainian strategy, military doctrine, organisation, training and equipment
• Synthesise scientific literature, open-source information and expert interviews
• Contribute to scientific publications and teaching materials
• Support the presentation and communication of research results
• Develop interdisciplinary expertise on modern warfare and current armed forces development for teaching and research purposes

What makes you unique

• Completed university degree (Master's) in History, Political Science, Strategic Studies, International Relations, Military Science or a related field, ongoing PhD possible
• Strong interest in modern warfare, armed forces development and the Ukraine war
• Experience in scientific work and analysing complex issues
• Independent and reliable working style
• Team spirit, initiative and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and exchange with academic and military partners (preferably officer)
• Good active knowledge of English, Ukrainian and/or Russian

The Training Command (Kdo Ausb) is responsible for training within the Swiss Army – from recruitment through basic training to leadership training for the militia and professional military. The Kdo Ausb includes advanced leadership training, army personnel, five training units, the training centre as well as the Women in the Army and Diversity office. One third of the approximately 2,350 employees work in civilian professions in scientific, technical, medical, psychological, administrative or sporting fields and contribute to success together with the professional military.

The Swiss Army employs over 9,000 staff in four military and around 200 civilian professions – at 110 locations throughout Switzerland. The next generation is also taken care of: the Swiss Army trains apprentices in over 30 professions.
