The Reformed Church Community of Zurich is the largest and most populous church community in Switzerland. With a wide range of meaningful fields of activity, the focus is on people. The church community reaches a large number of people throughout the city with its offerings. It represents innovative forms of church life for the needs of a modern and diverse society.
The administrative office forms the central service centre of the Zurich church community. The IT department is responsible for the IT infrastructure and ICT resources. It implements strategic directives from the church council and ensures secure and reliable IT operations. In addition, the IT department provides services for Catholic City Zurich.
Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we are looking for a team-oriented and committed individual from 1 April 2027 or by arrangement as

Head of IT Department (80–100%)

Your Tasks

• Personnel, professional and financial management of the IT department
• Continuous development of IT infrastructure and services including processes and tools
• Active promotion of digitalisation in the church community
• Further professionalisation of the department as a service centre and promotion of employees
• Ensuring customer-oriented service delivery
• Responsibility for budget, service levels as well as compliance with standards, data protection and security requirements
• Preparation of decision-making bases for the executive and parliament as well as for regulatory decrees, strategic concepts and guidelines for the use of IT resources

Your Profile

• University degree in computer science, business informatics or a comparable field
• Several years of proven leadership experience in the IT environment, preferably in public-law, political or non-profit organisations
• Sound and up-to-date expertise in IT infrastructure, application management, IT security and Microsoft 365
• Experience in project management and designing efficient processes
• Strong analytical, conceptual and methodological skills as well as a healthy balance between innovative thinking and pragmatism
• High initiative, solution orientation and resilience
• Communicative, integral leadership personality with heart and mind as well as a pronounced service focus
• Identification with the values and goals of the Reformed Church
