Our client is a dynamic municipality in the Basel region that attaches great importance to the development of its schools and invests specifically in the education sector.

For the leadership and further development of its primary schools, we are looking for an experienced and convincing leader who combines educational standards, management competence and a good understanding of the diverse interests of a public education organisation.

As Principal, you take overall responsibility for several primary school locations and shape their development together with school management, teachers, staff, authorities and other partners.

Your responsibilities:

Educational leadership & school development: You are responsible for the educational orientation of the primary schools and lead school development processes within the framework of the cantonal curriculum Basel-Landschaft. In doing so, you promote a positive school culture and continuously develop teaching and the school.

Leadership & personnel: You lead and develop the school management, teachers and other staff. Your area of responsibility includes assessment, promotion as well as planning of personnel deployment and workloads.

Organisation & school operations: You ensure a professional and reliable school operation. This includes the organisation of school management, timetable planning, student allocation, room planning, information flows and the management of school administration.

Finance & resources: You bear budget responsibility for the operational school operation within the credits approved by the municipal council and primary school board.

Collaboration & communication: You navigate confidently in a demanding stakeholder environment and work closely with the primary school board, municipal authorities, the cantonal office for public schools, teachers, parents as well as school and support services.

Leadership personality – experience in school management / principalship in BL – committed, motivating, energetic!

What you bring:

You have leadership experience in the education or school environment and understand how to connect people, organisation and development.

• Several years of experience in the Swiss education and school landscape
• Leadership experience as well as a completed school management or leadership training or willingness to complete such training
• Strong management and organisational skills
• Convincing communication, leadership and team skills
• Interest in and understanding of political processes and public structures
• The ability to critically question the status quo and to drive change in a coordinated and impact-oriented manner
• An independent, reliable and service-oriented working style
• Confidence in dealing with different stakeholders and complex situations
