Professor for "Didactics of History" 80-100%

PH Zurich actively shapes education, school and teaching of today and tomorrow in teaching and research. The Secondary Level I Department is responsible for the training of teachers at secondary level I. It currently offers four master's degree programmes as well as subject extensions that impart professional competences for teaching at secondary level.

The position of Professor "Didactics of History" is located in the Secondary Level I Department, Geography, History, Religion and Culture (GRK) section. You will make a significant research and development contribution to the following subject areas:

• Research in the field of history didactics, historical teaching and learning, and historical culture
• Development of innovative, interdisciplinary approaches and learning environments with particular consideration of current societal challenges

The position includes at least 40% in teaching and 40% in research.

• Contribution to curricular (further) development in history didactics as well as in the multidisciplinary field of geography, history, political education, cultures, ethics and in the didactics of natural and social sciences
• Acquisition, management and implementation of research and development projects in history didactics and related disciplines
• Development, delivery and evaluation of teaching and continuing education events
• Supervision of master's and doctoral students
• Network expansion

• University degree and doctorate as well as preferably habilitation in the field of didactics of history (or historical science)
• Excellent track record (projects, publications, knowledge transfer) in history didactics research and development
• Teaching diploma for secondary level I or a neighbouring school level (or equivalent proof of target level reference)
• Successful, several years of teaching experience in university education and continuing education
• Experience in acquiring third-party funding and project management
• National and international networking
• Experience in supervising researchers in qualification phases
• Willingness to cooperate for the cross-university and interdisciplinary further development of the research group "Didactics of Social Sciences" at PH Zurich
• Very good knowledge of the Swiss education system
• Strong team spirit and a winning demeanour
