About the job

HR Generalist with Advisory Responsibilities (100%)

Human Resources | from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement

The Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a litre is always a litre (e.g. when refuelling), METAS carries out calibrations, conformity assessments and consultations for business, research and administration. Measurement accuracy builds trust, especially at societal and political levels, and is essential in many areas: road traffic, electricity billing, time transmission, measurements in environmental and health sectors, etc. At METAS, various disciplines come together and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.

The Human Resources department at METAS supports and accompanies around 270 employees with appreciation and competence throughout the entire HR lifecycle: from recruitment through entry to exit. To strengthen our small, motivated HR team, we are looking for an experienced HR Generalist.

Your Tasks

  • Competent advice and support for line managers as well as employees in all personnel-related matters
  • Independent responsibility for an assigned area: from recruitment through administrative processing of entries and exits to advice in conflict situations
  • As the person responsible for vocational training, you are the contact for trainers and apprentices and coordinate all training and internship relationships at METAS
  • Ensuring correct and consistent implementation of absence management within your area of responsibility
  • Active participation in digitalisation projects and the further development of HR processes

Your Profile

  • Completed commercial training with further education in HR (HR specialist certificate or comparable qualification), complemented by several years of professional experience in a similar role and completed trainer course
  • Sound knowledge in typical HR task areas (labour law, social insurance, advisory competence), ideally complemented by basic knowledge in payroll management
  • High initiative and independence as well as a proactive, solution- and goal-oriented working style with a pronounced awareness of quality and efficiency
  • Confident use of MS Office, SAP and common HR tools
  • You communicate confidently in one official language (German or French) and have very good knowledge of a second official language (B1-B2), complemented by good English skills

We Offer

  • A varied and responsible role in an exciting company with short decision-making paths and an open corporate culture. You will be actively supported by a committed team. Look forward to progressive employment conditions, attractive additional benefits and a working environment where you can contribute your ideas and develop further.
