About the job
The Bid Manager (m/f/d) is responsible for the structured management of bids and tenders from analysing customer requirements to the timely submission of the final offer including lessons learned and handover to the project organisation. In this role, interdisciplinary teams are coordinated, technical, commercial and legal content is brought together, and competitive solutions are developed that are tailored to the specific needs of customers in the B2G environment.
Your tasks
- Analysis of tender documents, customer needs and evaluation criteria
- Conceptualisation, planning and proactive management of the bidding process including schedule, responsibilities, documentation, bid team, deliverables and milestones of offer preparation and submission
- Involvement and coordination of the departments involved in the offer preparation such as sales, engineering, purchasing, legal, finance and management
- Confident leadership of interdisciplinary bid teams through complex bidding processes and creating commitment across departments
- Creation, structuring and quality assurance of consistent bid documents
- Development of bidding strategies, value propositions and differentiation arguments in close cooperation with the responsible sales manager
- Planning, preparation and support of review rounds, decision meetings throughout the bidding process as well as internal approval gates
- Risk assessment, opportunity analysis and derivation of decision bases
- Ensuring the timely submission of bids in compliance with formal and content requirements of customers
- Supporting sales during negotiation phases up to contract award and handover of won tenders to the project organisation
- Proactive management and maintenance of the bid pipeline as well as supporting sales with forecasts, prioritisation of opportunities and transparency about ongoing bidding projects
Your profile
- 3-5 years of experience in bid/proposal management or related areas such as project management, B2G sales or procurement, ideally in technically complex or regulated markets
- Completed degree or comparable economic-technical education (e.g. industrial engineering)
- Very good understanding of public tenders, consultancy-intensive sales of complex system solutions and commercial contexts such as buying centres
- Nice to have: APMP certification(s), further training such as Shipley Writing Winning Proposals etc.
- Experience in or aptitude for leading interdisciplinary teams and stakeholder management, also in multi-site structures with many participants
- Strong analytical, structuring and writing skills
- Very good English skills, advantage: Spanish, French and/or Arabic
- Ability to prepare technical content in an understandable, target group-oriented and convincing manner
- Strategic thinking as well as confident handling of priorities, risks and decision-making processes under tight deadlines
